Black and Grey in the Winter Sunshine

 The muff is made of the sleeves of a vintage rabbit fur coat that I had made into a vest.

I had a super fun weekend in Baltimore.  It was very difficult to know what to pack because it was cold, but wearing heavy winter clothes feels too strange in March.

These photos were taken at Fort McHenry, where the battle that inspired the Star Spangled Banner took place.  It was very beautiful. 

A high-low dress in a t-shirt like material is the perfect layering piece and will be just as functional when spring finally arrives.  I like the look with tights, knee socks and slouchy boots. 

Since the skirt has some trendiness to it, I like to keep the top simple.  A cotton sweater and vest were just enough. 

The back detail makes this sweater one of my favorites. 

Being comfortable but pulled together is the best way to look when hitting the town!  More pictures from Baltimore to come.

The Glamorous Pursuit's Guide to Savannah, GA

I found Savannah to be a lovely city and I would recommend it to anyone for a short break.  I only spent about 10 hours in the city, so I can't recommend any day trips, but here are some photos I took and some places that I loved.  

Start with a Walking Tour  in the morning.  Most are about 2 hours long.  They are a great way to get your bearing in a new city and find out about its history and what makes it unique.  Your tour guide is also a great resource to ask for restaurant suggestions. 

Tip: Take in the beautiful iron work both on and off of the beautiful squares.  This staircase had pelicans on it. 

 The backstreet has home that are in various states of repair.  This one was fascinating to me. 

There is something more interesting about buildings that are not "perfect" to me.

While the squares seem quiet and haunting, Savannah's waterfront was bustling with local artists selling their work, old fashioned candy shoppes, and pubs.

An extra day off allowed me time to explore a neighborhood that I usually only see from the highway, Manchester.  This neighborhood on Pittsburgh's North Side is a reminder of the price of suburban sprawl.  A t-shirt and skirt felt just right on this seasonal day. 

 This street in particular had some beautiful Victorian homes, some renovated, others derelict. 

This vintage BB Dakota has 1980's shoulders.  I am probably going to have it tailored into a vest and a shawl collar.  I like its basic grey color which goes well with black. 

This church was absolutely beautiful.

Exploring more of Pittsburgh and its hidden glamorous gems is something I want to make more of a priority and not just something I do on vacation.

Pastel Graffiti: Tough and Soft

I love to mix textures and fabrics with unexpected colors.  These pants were in honor of Valentine's Day toughed up with leather.  The graffiti wall is in Wilkinsburg.  I like that it is in lighter softer colors.

Return to Oakland: Leopard Hat

I had a Junior League event in Oakland, where the University of Pittsburgh has its campus.  Being back in work clothing felt very surreal.  It was a great reminder how much things have changed in the years since law school graduation. 

 The hat is one of my favorite vintage finds ever.
